Working from home provides a lot of great benefits and sometimes a lot of stiffness. Sitting at a desk for hours at a time can cause a great deal of tension throughout the body. However, through the following simple work from home stretches and chiropractic care, you can minimize and rid your body of that tension. Our chiropractors at SoCal Neck & Back Injury Center, Lee Chiropractic, Inc. in Downey, CA would like to share a few exercises that you can do between appointments to prevent aches and pains.
Forward Fold Stretch
Stand up straight with your feet hip-width apart. Exhale as you bend forward, keeping your knees straight. Try to reach the floor with your fingertips. If you cannot reach that far, grab your ankles. You can also cross your arms, clasping your elbows, and let your body hang. Make sure your head and neck hang loosely, as well, for 30 seconds. Repeat several times throughout the day.
Targets: Upper and lower back, hamstrings, calves, neck
Bridge
Lie flat on your back, knees bent, and legs hip-width apart. Keep your feet flat on the floor as you push your hips up. Stay in this position for 20 to 30 seconds, and then slowly release your body back to the floor. Repeat a few times for extra relief.
Targets: Lower back, glutes, hamstrings, core, and absolute
Cross Body Shoulder Stretch
You can be either seated or standing for this stretch. Place your right arm across your chest. Using your left forearm, slightly pull your right arm to your body. Hold this position for 30 seconds before switching sides. Try completing this stretch several times per day.
Targets: Shoulders, upper back, rotator cuff
